Postsecret

I thought I’d share some postsecret postcards that really made me smile or touched me in some way…

I just love those so much, I’m also glad to know I’m not the only person to have a dog wink at me. I think the hope one is brilliant, not just for being so clever on behalf of the photographer but I have at as a screensaver to cheer me up. Speaking of cheering me up, here’s a song that never fails to make me smile, especially in the boat that rocked:

Two sites that have changed how I think:

This first site was stumbled upon after Sarah Millican mentioned it in an interview. The site is http://www.postsecret.com and it’s effect on me has been bigger than I thought a website could have. The basic concept is to put your secret on a postcard and send it in, but go and see for yourself.  The idea of revealing your secret but not who you are seems so liberating… Some of the secrets just seem so overbearing, like the kind of personal experience that will eat you alive if you keep it inside… But some secrets are opinions, and it’s inevitable that more than 1 person will think this so why not put it out there? Not just for the sake of the secret sender but for the person who reads it and realises they aren’t alone…

The other site is http://www.operationbeautiful.com which works to promote self confidence. The idea of letting anyone know how valued they are in life and how amazing someone thinks they are is just so lovely. I just think this is one of the sweetest sites I’ve ever seen… I can’t really say much more than that, so see for yourself.
